The Aleutian Housing Authority (AHA) is the Tribally Designated Housing Entity (TDHE) for the Aleutian and Pribilof Islands Region of Alaska. AHA received Homeowner Assistance money from the U.S. Department of Treasury, on behalf of our partner Tribes, for eligible households who have disproportionately suffered from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At least one household member must be enrolled in one of the regional Tribes

(A reduction in income or an increase in living expenses due to COVID-19 pandemic.)

Must income qualify. Homeowners who make 150% or less of Area Median Income may qualify.
To be eligible for assistance under AHA’s HAF Program, Homeowners must meet the following criteria:

Application Process
We are accpeting applications. The application period is open and applications will be reviewed and procesed as they are received. Application approval is dependent on available funds.
Be sure to gather and submit ALL required documents. Failure to do so will delay processing of your application. Funding is not guaranteed, and all documentation will be verified to determine eligibility.
Preferences and Priorities
AHA will review and process applications according to the following order of preferences:
a.
Not less than 60% of amounts made available to AHA will be used for qualified expenses that assist eligible Homeowners having incomes equal to or less than 100% of the area median income or equal to or less than 100% of the median income for the United States, whichever is greater, applying preferences in the following order:
Sand Point and King Cove Application Period Now Open May 8th - June 16th, 2023.
Applicant and household information- Full name, date of birth, and social security numbers for all household members; Applicant address and contact information.
Release of Information – Signed and dated by each household member 18 years or age.
Proof of Identification – Photo ID (Government or State issued) for all household members 18 years of age and older.
Homeownership Documentation – Includes, but is not limited to, deed or deed of trust, mortgage statement or escrow, property tax receipt/bill, tribal certification
Household Income Documentation - Includes, but is not limited to, the last 30 days of pay stubs, pension statement(s), social security award letter(s), unemployment letter(s), bank statements, 2020 or 2021 Tax Returns, and/or documentation of any other household income received by all household members 18 years of age or older.
Utility and/or Internet Documentation - Current utility/internet bills and/or statements, late payment notices and/or disconnect notices.
Home Repair / Replacement Documentation – Includes, but not limited to, written description of request, photographs, estimates for replacements, etc.
Financial Hardship – Homeowners must attest that they experienced financial hardship after January 21, 2020. The attestation must describe the nature of the financial hardship (for example, job loss, reduction of income, or increased costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
Socially disadvantaged eligible Homeowners that have at least one family member (regardless of whether that member is an adult or head of household) who is a Tribal Member.
Socially disadvantaged eligible Homeowners that have at least one family member (regardless of whether that member is an adult or head of household) who is a member of an Indian Tribe.
Other socially disadvantaged individuals.
The remaining 40% will be used to assist eligible Homeowners having incomes equal to or less than 150% of the area median income and will be prioritized utilizing the same preferences as above.
